Yamaha RX-V377 HDMI input issue

First off, I'm a beginner to the AV world, so keep that in mind. I've set up a KODI system (Rasp Pi4) to act as a media server for my music. When using the HDMI output on the KODI/RP4 connected directly to a TV, the unit plays music fine. I want to connect it to my Yamaha receiver to the HDMI 2 or 3 or 4 input, as I don't need the TV to be in the loop when only playing music. When I do this, I get no output. The TV normally plays through the AVR as well with no issues. Any ideas on the issue? Thanks
