    Newbie question I'm assuming.

I just purchased a Yamaha RX-677 and everything works great except when I try connecting my patio speakers to Zone 2. I get no sound. However, if I connect the speakers to the Center speaker connection, I hear everything fine. Not sure what I'm doing wrong.

FYI - I did change the power amp setting to 7ch + 1Zone in the setup.

Also, the patio speaker wires run through a volume control switch.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Do you have zone 2 powered on? I knows it's a bit of a silly question but worth checking.

Does the 677 have party mode? On my RXA810 engaging party mode automatically turns off my rear surrounds and turns on my zone 2 speakers which are also on my patio.

I find zone control easiest to manage using the Yamaha app.

Also what sources are you trying to play on Zone 2. Often Zone 2 is limited to analogue inputs on the AVR hence anything connected using HDMI, optical or coaxial often can not be played on Zone 2.

Yamaha avr's allow you to play digital sources in all zones when using party mode.
