hello

Yamaha RVX485 receiver paired with NS F51 speakers (woofer diameter is 16cm) and SW200 sub. i have a question about the speaker setting and subwoofer setting in the receiver.

1) front speakers set to "Large", subwoofer cross over frequency set at 90 Hz,

or

2) front speakers set to "Small", subwoofer cross over frequency set at 90 Hz,

option 1, front speakers will handle all of the front channel frequency components, subwoofer also produces the LFE, whereas option 2, front speakers roll off if the audio signal is below 90 Hz and the subwoofer roll in.

i like to know which option is the correct setup, will it be better to have 3 components to produce LFE or just leave it to the subwoofer to handle the LFE?

thanks for you advice in advance.

just leave it to the sub

You should set the speaker size to small and a crossover of 80hz if possible, but certainly no lower than that detected by the room correction. On the sub set it's crossover to maximum, usually 120hz.

Read the opening to this thread which explains it in great detail.
