    Hi all,

I've acquired a Yamaha R-N500, I'm currently using a set of old Speakers that my Dad had knocking about, Technics SB-CH900.

What might I possibly find second hand for £150.00 to go with this Receiver please?

Also, I see Speakers seem to vary between 6 Ohms and 8 Ohms, the Technics are rated 6 Ohms. What should I be looking to go for?

I tend to play my music at high volumes so want something with big sound preferably.

    Cheers,

    Dean

The answer, unhelpful as it is, is - any speakers you like that you can afford.

Most speaker are in the range of 4 ohms to 8 ohms, and anything in the range of 6 ohms to 8 ohms will work with out a problem on any amp out there.

Certainly you can shop around for used speakers in the £150 range, but it is a choice of whatever is available at the moment. If you are a smart shopper, and understand speakers, and can trust the seller to represent the condition accurately.

Here are new speakers to consider -

Yamaha NS-F51 Floorstanding Speakers - HiFi & Pairs - Speakers

Wharfedale Diamond 240 Speakers Per Pair

Cambridge Audio SX80 Speakers Per Pair

These bookshelf are all quality speakers at nice discounts -

Q Acoustics 3020 Speakers Per Pair

    Wharfedale 220 Speakers Per Pair

Cambridge Audio SX60 Speakers Per Pair

Here is a Video Review of the Q Acoustic 3020, a very nice sounding speaker, but with acceptable but modest bass.

    DEMO: Rotel RA-1570 + Q Acostic 3020 Bookshelf

The Wharfedale Diamond 220 are 5" speakers, but they are highly rated.

The Cambridge SX60 have the advantage of being larger 6.5" speaker, and should certainly perform well for the price.
