Yamaha have a new 16:9 LCD projector, the LPX500, the lcd panels are 1280X720 pixels, it has a contrast of 600:1 and 700 Lumens lamp, and to finish off it has a faroudja DCDI chip for progressive processing.
Looks like it could be a good one depending on the price.
The only way to see the full specs at the moment is to download the Yamaha pdf brochure which is 1.6mb here
Looks like it could be better than the Sony HS10 ;) :D

I believe this is the Yamaha clone of the Epson TW100. Probably same performance but will cost more bucks!

I just checked out the specs for the TW-100, it looks like your correct. There are some good Projectors coming out at the moment, its just a shame they cost so Bl**dy much!
It looks like you still can't beat the AE100 for value.

The Epson TW100 is only 2,090 GBP here. So the LPX500 should drop quickly from it's 2,930.10 GBP list price. Seems to compare well with the Epson according to one mag I read (not a TW100 killer). No street price on the HS10 yet, list price 1,888.25 GBP but I would expect this to fall to around 1,618.47 GBP within a month or so, if other models are anything to go by. As far as the TH-AE100, no news yet.

Had another look today at a shoot-out in a local (Japanese) mag. In the entry level section they rated the Epson TS10 (1st) and Sony HS1 (2nd) overall best for performance/value. The Panasonic TH-AE100 got good points for colour but overall the the Epson was better, 2002 tech vs 2001?, so not too unexpected. However the AE100 at 735.367 GBP is over a third cheaper than the TS10 at 1,178.27 GBP. At the high end the Sony VPL-VW12HT (2,568.91 GBP) stormed past the Eposn TW100 (2,098.83 GBP) and new Yamaha LPX500 (no street price yet).

Checked out the Epson TS10 vs the Panasonic AE100 at a local shop, the colours really are richer on the AE100.

Anyway, I hope someone found this interesting.
