Yamaha HTR-6130 Surround sound

I have looked over the manual that came with the system but it leaves me confused.
Do I need to have the main front speakers on the B channel along with the surround sound speakers to get the full effect?

I have the front Bose on the A channell and the surround on the B. Is this correct? Do I have to use another setting.

Usually the A and B channels are for connecting two sets of front speakers (i.e maybe for wiring them to a second room)

For 5.1 you'd have the front set connected to "Front A", the rears connected to "Surround", the centre speaker to "centre" and of course the subwoofer to "subwoofer out".
