Picked up mine on Saturday from Sevenoaks – try the Glasgow store… They seem to specialise in Yam amps…

Other places are waiting till Yam announce what’s going to happen in Feb… including a possible price increase 

Only problem with them is their prices seem to be a bit more than RS, can I ask what you paid for it?

I paid £853 for the AX763, an rsfx and rslcr. Paying £400 for the amp got me 33% off the MAs. Otherwise had I got the amp from RS it would have cost me more when paying full price for the speakers…

I’ve spoken to a couple of on line traders who indicate that the price may well go up, with an estimated date of Feb. Remember when the amp was first launched it was in the £500 bracket, so the price reduction has meant they’ve sold out and can no longer meet demand…

Cant seem to find this amp ANYWHERE, anyone know where I can find one ?

Out of stock everywhere. I spoke with 2 RS branches today and they said beginning of Feb. Prices should stay the same £289. I wasn't looking to get one just yet but the way this has been selling out, i may have to re-think that one and reserve an order.

I tried several places around Sheffield last weekend and the only model I could find in stock was the Onkyo 606 (at £349).
RS, Super-fi and Sevenoaks could give me no definate indication of when they'd get more stocks in. A local independent had 6 Denons coming in, but he was asking silly money.
In the end I tried a Sony shop who had the Sony 820 in stock. It may be a little below the Yamaha in spec, but I saved some money, it's more than capable enough for my needs and I'm enjoying it now, rather waiting for another model.
The price RS is advertising is pretty irrelevent if they don't have what you want in stock.

When I bought mine in December from Sevenoaks Sheffield, they told me it would pretty much be the last one they'd be seeing until Feb. They struggled to get hold of it for me too.

I paid £799 for it with some Kef 2005.3's - when I placed the order, the Kef's couldn't be found for less than list (£699), so I effectively got the amp for a ton

Of course largely irrelevant now (a month later), as the prices of the Kef's has dropped.

Don't know how accurate their "in stock" claim is on their website but it looks like Tottenham Court Road Direct have them in for £309 + del.

Could also try Exceptional-AV.co.uk : : Specialists in Onkyo's award winning Hifi and home theatre systems ...

I spoke to someone there the other day who said they were getting in a few dribs and drabs and were expecting some more this weekend. You may be able to reserve one? Price they were quoting was also good £283 but not sure if that also includes delivery.

Irrelevant for me now as I bought a Denon 1909 in a package deal with speakers from my local Sevenoaks yesterday but I had the Yamaha at the top of my list for some time up until that point.

Also looking for one of these, been ringing round this morning, but not much luck. :(

Sevenoaks have it in their sale Sevenoaks Sound and Vision Offers - television offers - hi-fi offers - surround sound offers at £299, but my local one in Bristol doesn't hold it, and I can't get through to the mail order line, for some reason my mobile won't dial the number (don't have a landline)!

PRC direct said they have a couple in stock Yamaha DSPAX763BL from prcdirect.co.uk again at £299, but thier delivery terms sound a bit strange, they ask for two forms of ID on delivery, only problem is I'll be at work!

PRC don't have any stock now and they're not expecting any more to come in. He suggested a Denon 1909, but apart from the extra HDMI input, it doesn't seem any better than the 763 and it's £50 more. I'm running out of options and my current Yamaha 640 is about to pack up. :(

What's going on? I'd have thought with the credit-crunch the shops would have loads of stock to shift!

 I put my order through here on saturday, gave them a call today as there had been no update on the order status, they confirmed they have 8 or 9 in stock, mine should be sent tomorrow. :D Bloke I spoke to said there had been some probs with the online order system, but would look into it and call me back.

Probably best to give them a call if you want to order one, they're not the quickest to answer the phone, may take a couple of trys to get through, but at least they have stock! The price is slightly higher than PRC, but still good value. :smashin:

They do seem to be the only ones that have it in stock, but I really don't like the look of that website and I've never heard of them. 4 days to dispatch an order? I'm sure they're fine, but I'd rather not take the chance. Post back when you get it.

Called and spoke to Tottenham court road direct last night and they confirmed they had one left which I ordered.

Spoke to them again this morning confirming my order had been received (will be delivered tomorrow) the chap on the phone said they had found another 2 units upstairs so if you want one be quick as most places are saying this unit is now discontinued with new models due out in April

I saw an 863 new in the box today at PRC in Romford if this helps?

We've had a delivery today. All the 863's were pre-sold, but we have a few 763's spare. I'm assuming this is all we'll get until the end of next month.

I happily posted on here a month ago stating that I had purchased the ax763 from Andrews TV. Anyway I had not heard anything for a week so sent them an email. I was told to expect in the following week. The amp never arrived so I called them and was told it would be now end of FEB/MARCH.

I cancelled the amp as I had found it in stock at PRC, since then all emails have been ingnored at Andrews and still no REFUND. When I call I am told they have processed it and there must be a problem. I contacted the company they use and they say there is no such problem and they have also not contacted them with regard to this.

I must have sent them 7 emails with not one reply. How shoddy that they take my money when they have no idea when they will be able to supply the product. Now they have not even got the decency to give me my refund or a reply and explanation.

Anyway amp has arrived from PRC for a slightly higher price but they did not take the funds until the amp was sent!
