    Has anybody tried the new Yamaha DRX-1 DVD Recorder?
    I beleive the price will be about £800.00. I read a review on it in the current What HiFi and they seem to think it is overpriced for what it offers.

    Are any other manufactures planning to launch DVD Recorders?

    According the the Yamaha web site, the DRX-1 has the following Main Features:

    Extensive recording and play back capabilities, with extremely high quality and many handy features.
    Recordson DVD+RW and DVD+R discs
    "Quality first" design maximises digital image and sound quality
    Recorded discs play on nearly all DVD-Video players and DVD-ROM drives
    Plays all types of DVD and CDs except (except DVD-RAM)
    Four recording modes including High Quality mode and 6-hour mode
    Index Picture screen shows first scene of all recorded segments
    Edit mode provides numerous editing functions
    Auto and Manual Chapter Marker insertion
    No need to finalise DVD+RW disc as with DVD-Video
    i.LINK for connecting a digital camcorder
    VIDEO Plus+ compatibility
