I have recently purchased the Yamaha AX750 and is brillant.
However, i prefer the looks and the colour of the denon 3805.

will i get a signifant improvement in performance with an increase in £400 in price?

If so, what are the improvements which i am most likely to feel.

i will be using AE evo 3b 5.1 package

    many thanks

Why would you want to upgrade so soon after buying the Yamaha???? Are you made of money/mad???? Seriously though 750 is surely good enough for you, that's why you bought it right????

If you're buying only on looks then it's very hard to offer any objective advice.

I upgraded from a four-year old Yamaha RXV-596 to the 3805 last week, and the difference was outstanding. Finally, I can play music!
Now, I know that this may not be such a good comparison (after all, the 596 was half the price FOUR years ago), and I must admit not knowing anything about the 750. But thought I could mention it anyway  ...

And if it is looks your after, the Denon won't disappoint you. Every time I look at it, it just says STYLE, with its sleek, sexy, silver front panel. I love it. Although, I can't say whether it's worth the extra £400 just for the looks...

Now, I just need some new speakers, as my Tannoy MX's sound about as good as they ever will

Have you considered the Yamaha RXV-2400RDS? This amp was recently reviewed along side the Denon 3805 and the Arcam AVR300 and won! I have the older DSP-AX640SE Yamaha which is fine, but if I had the money I would definately be upgrading to the 2400! Especially now it is down to an amazing £650 at Superfi! (Just found it today). You just cant go wrong, £350 off! I personally don't think it looks as nice as the Pioneer VSX-AX3, but just for it's sonic ability... Yamaha every time! If you havent already, I recommend you read the review!

    Is the review on-line?

I would be really interested in reading it as I am after some kit to go with my Kef 5005 speakers and if the 2400 got a better review than the AVR300 then that may be it.

I doubt the full review will be online. You could check Yamahas site. Or if you go to homecinemachoice.com and hifichoice.com, you may find it on one of those.
