Yamaha AV71

I'm looking at this system at the moment, it seems a good alternative to the Onkyo S3405. I'm primarily interested in it over the Onkyo system because of the active sub connection, meaning I could upgrade all the speakers later if I wanted to.

However in all likelihood I'd probably just upgrade the front satellites.

Thoughts?

Thats what we all said, although some are afflicted more than others

Although they are marketed as AIO solutions, they are actually separate Amp and Speakers packaged together, as opposed to something like a LG homecinema solution and ,imo, is defo the way to go.
If you try a search in the amp section for the RXV371, there are bound to be others with it. Yam is a popular choice . I have had a couple over the years , current one is still going strong after 6 iirc.
Speakers, a quick search for NSP20 in the relevant section should also shed some light. Again I had a Yam Speaker back back in the day, and they did a great job, until upgraditis set in

For an extra £20 you could buy the 371 and the next speaker set up, the NSP40 for Richer Sounds. so be sure to shop around to get the price you want to pay
Good luck

Thanks for the reply, yeah I realise it is in essence a seperates system, this looked about the right place as similar systems have been discussed in here.

From a quick google of the included speakers they're not the best but I'd imagine similar to the Onkyo ones included with the S3405?
A small footprint is important for me, so the smaller sub of the Yamaha is also appealing.

No problem with asking in here, sometimes there is more info lurking elsewhere is all :)

I only had a quick look at the 2 systems you mentioned. I would probably go for the Yam too. Try see them if you can. Not sure you will get a demo anywhere tho

Happy spending
