Hi All,
Does anyone know what type of power socket is on the rear of the Yamaha E400 hifi unit - its 3 pin 100W max switched (attached picture)? I'd like to look for a usb adaptor to power an audio Chromecast.
what you see at the back is an AC outlet - meaning 240V or 110V depending on where you live.
So do not tamper with it.
It is used to power additional Yamaha equipments, such as a CD player.
Switched means if you turn the amp off, it will turn the CD off too, if plugged into it.
Not a USB!

I disagree. As a mains outlet it doesn't matter what it powers as long as it's within the specified 100W. A 5V/500mA USB charger typically draws around 200mA or 46W, so less than half the rated power of the socket. It may well be possible to replace the obsolete Bulgin socket with a Schuko socket to allow this.
It seems the correct plug may be available here. But the OP would then need to find a non-wall wart charger.
