Question Yamaha 673 arc audio

    hi just set up my receiver with arc, can anyone tell me if I should be getting Dolby from hd channels as I only get pcm, get Dolby from the tv apps so I know it can be sent.

    Most of the HD channels do use Dolby Digital although it has to be said that most of the content they broadcast is only 2 channel Dolby Digital ass opposed to being 5.1. You'd only get Dolby Digital 5.1 if the programme being broadcast was encoded with it while everything else will be broadcast with stereo 2 channel Dolby Digital.

    There's also the fact that Freeview uses HE-AAC as opposed to Dolby Digital for multichannel surround sound, but Freeview devices should transcode this to Dolby Digital in order to give backward compatablity with devices you output the audio to from a Freeview STB or TV.
