I am considering a yamaha 540 for the progressive scan on ntsc and pal and need to know which discs will play.
I have a panasonic E50 recorder and make my own DVD-Rs, what is it like at playing these? does it freeze etc.
I have a cheap Ronin which can play these but pic quality isn't too good.

Thanks in advance

You might want to to a bit more research on the 540. I was going to buy one but read that it wasn't great on the progressive scan side of things.

I also thought sony 730 but heard that probably wouldn't play anything but originals, yamaha 540 seems like the only other in the same price range.

I have tried DVD+R and DVD-R discs with a Ritek dye and also Datawrite DVD-R.
All play fine with no glitches at all.

Cheers, Beastie.

thanks
:smashin:
I'll try and get an audition.

i'm considering getting a 930 which is basicly identical to 730 apart of having SACD. i have also a Lite-on 8x dual internal DVD burner (LDW-811s). i took 2 el cheapo DVD-Rs with original content copied on them to a store and tried'em with 930. no probs found at this short test.
