    Yamaha RX-V2500 & RX-V1500 Press Releases

Yamaha Improves Line of 7-Channel Digital Home Theater Receivers w/Enhanced Features and Upgraded Power
    - RX-V2500 and RX-V1500 Feature Cinema DSP, THX Select, Dolby Pro Logic IIx, Component Video Up Conversion and Automatic Surround Sound Speaker Configuration -

INDIANAPOLIS - Yamaha Electronics Corporation, the innovator in home theater and digital audio and video reproduction, today introduced two affordable A/V digital home theater receivers with YPAO (Yamaha Parametric Room Acoustic Optimizer) technology.

YPAO plays a key role in configuring home theater systems. This essential technology completely simplifies the home theater set-up process by automatically analyzing room acoustics and setting parameters for optimum sound quality at the listening position, all at the touch of a button. The entire process takes less than three minutes––and with YPAO, the user can be assured of “professionally calibrated” surround sound quality. Six YPAO settings can be stored in the receiver’s memory.

Worthy successors to Yamaha’s previous receiver models, the mid-priced RX-V2500 (130W x 7) and RX-V1500 (120W x 7) feature powerful 7-channel amplification (9-channel output possible) and employ Yamaha’s Digital ToP-ART (Total Purity Audio Reproduction Technology) design concept to maximize digital sound quality, with several operation modes that provide short, direct signal paths for even greater sound clarity. For true audiophiles, a Pure Direct Switch provides the highest quality stereo sound reproduction. A Night Listening Enhancer ensures that all programs, including Dolby Pro Logic IIx, sound natural at lower volume levels. Superior picture quality is provided by component video up-conversion, HDTV (720p/1080i) compatibility and a wide range of video bandwidth.

A powerful 32-bit proprietary LSI provides full range realistic music and movie sound. Both units are compatible with the latest sound formats, including Dolby Pro Logic IIx, Dolby Digital EX, Dolby Pro Logic II, DTS-ES Discrete 6.1, DTS Neo:6 and DTS 96/24, and also provide THX Select processing.

The RX-V2500 and RX-V1500 are both extremely versatile as well as user-friendly. These models include HDTV (720p/1080i) compatibility via a Component Video UP Conversion feature, which can upgrade composite and S-video signals to component video format for ease of installation.

The RX-V2500 and RX-V1500 feature the next generation of Yamaha’s proprietary Cinema DSP technology, which offers a wider range of surround sound programs. Sophisticated internal surround decoding and ambience processing in the two receivers are enabled by the YSS-930, a 32-bit Floating-Point LSI that yields 34 DSP programs with 58 possible variations in the RX-V2500. The RX-V1500 offers 31 DSP programs with 55 variations, including two THX Select programs, Dialogue Lift for clarity with certain speaker positions, and Silent Cinema mode for enjoying surround-like sound through conventional headphones.

In addition, on-screen menus and a learning remote control provide easy access to all functions of the RX-V2500 and RX-V1500. Both units also offer an extensive range of inputs and outputs, including easy-to-use custom installation features. Both receivers offer multi-sourced Zone 2, Zone 3, powered Zone 2, Zone 2/3 audio out, 2/3 volume control, triggers out, IR port and an RS-232C interface. The RX-V2500 offers Zone 2 audio/video out with S-video, Front/Zone 2 Direct On/Off Switch, Rec Out/Zone 2 Selector, 2 trigger outs, IR ports and an RS-232C interface.
