    Hi All

A silly question maybe but i cant find the answer. Ive got a UK Spec Yamaha DSP640SE and the speaker terminals dont "appear" to accept 4mm banana plugs !

I think its some new european safety standard with kids plugging speaker cables into euro main sockets - but that doesnt help !

Is there a new speaker connection format ?

A quote from the Superfi website says "all binding posts which can be simply modified to accept 4mm banana plugs". Anyone know what this mod is ?

Will plugs offer any better sound ? Or is it mainly a convenience thing ?

    Hope you can help

    Kind Regards

    Gareth

On most amps, you just need to prise the center cap out of the binding posts to reveal a 4mm hole.

In this case (looking at the '640 by my desk) a little brute force should overcome that small plastic liner at the end of each terminal.

My mate has the very same amp and went and bought some banana plugs. He came up against the very same problem but didn't know there were little rubber bungs in the binding posts. He took the banana plugs back only to find out later [when I told him] that it was possible to fit them quite easily.
