To be fair, all of my Yahoo accounts are around 20 years old.

Yes, ours was down. Up and running again, thank goodness. Felt lost without it. Didn’t think I used it that much .

Was down for me from yesterday afternoon until about 10pm, on iPhone, iPad and Mac mail. Web version was fine throughout.

My Yahoo Mail's been working just fine for me since yesterday, with both the Android app and Android Chrome browser

Is there an easy way to move email accounts from one provider to another? I've not been really happy with Yahoo for years, but it is an enormous task to cancel a 20 or so year old account with dozens and dozens of things registered to that or that account. Anyone knows of a way to do that?

Slowly, over time. Start off with the main accounts the old one is used on and then whenever you get an email to yahoo update it with your new address. Do a ruthless unsubscribe first though for all the crap that you don't really need.

Thanks. It looks like it needs to be done rather sooner than later. I need to do a research who is a good email provider worth looking at, especially for my main accounts. Gmail would be fine, but they scan each email to bombard people with advertising. Some research is needed.

Don't you have manage some websites? Don't they come with mailboxes that you could use?

I use me.com (apple) and Gmail. No issues with Gmail.

The websites come and go, besides the domain inboxes are expensive.

Yahoo still down on my phone.

I've never had any advertising directed at my Gmail accounts  (except for update alerts from the likes of Plex and Sygic GPS, which I don't count)

From what I've read they scan each email in the inbox for keywords and then feed you ads based on that when you search on Google.

I have a few Gmail accounts and it looks like I will have to start a few more.

I have more Google targeted ads fed to me from my visits to AVF than I do from my Gmail.

    @IronGiant @imightbewrong

Do either of you use the gmail app on android? When I go into the 'promotions' emails in the app then there's always a directed advert at the top. Unfortunately gmail puts quite a few necessary emails in promotions, like quidco, fitbit and gym class booking confirmations

Hmm promotions tab - no I don't think I have one of those? I get e.g. quidco in my main mailbox.

Never noticed it before, and sure enough, lots of messages from Argos, Warner Bros and Gear Best :). But as Gmail neatly sticks them in that category that I don't normally visit, I guess I can live with it.

Edit: Just did a spring clean, worst one was Social with hundreds of Youtube links, mostly in German o_O

I ditched using the Gmail app in favour of Bluemail for all my email accounts on my android phone.
