John-d - How can you say that! It was excellent, and I'm sure Columbia Tristar will do as they do with all of there top cinema movies and make this into an excellent 2 discer.

WHat in particular did you not like about the film?

I might of enjoyed if i had one brain cell :D

"What didn't I like about the movie?" - It was too over the top. And anything that's like that, just bores the pants off me.

A secret agent taken from the streets, coz he's into extreme sports (don't make me laugh).

Oh come-on! "X", jumps a wall, slides to the back of the bike, manages to pull his gun, puts a well aimed shot on the look-out guard. Do you intelligent people actually believe all that b*ll*cks!

In the training scene, he jumps 40ft fences, with no run-up at all.

Sorry, but this was a Rob Cohen film - "nuff said!"

If there was anything to enjoy about it, the sound was thunderous.

You dont have any brain cells then?

You went to see a film that contained scenes with extreme sports and didnt like it because it was over the top?

But when James Bond does some surfing, skying, handgliding thats more realistic?

The people with intelligence take movies of this type with a pinch of salt and dont take them too seriously.

I would of taken that scene with a very large pinch of salt. ;)

Rob Cohen just wants to entertain movie goers and make money at the same time. Take a look at any Indiana Jones movie and tell me Spielberge got it wrong.

Not over the top then and keeping in the realms of realism?

Don't get me wrong! I love good action films. But, I mean good.

This movie didn't even have a good story. When I'm sitting through something and my attention is on the ceiling for most of the time, then by my standards, it must be bad.

I didn't like it, buy hey! someone must have.

Sorry to say, but I'm not a J.B. fan also.

Whats skying by the way? Oh sorry skiing. Got ya!!! Think you mean hang gliding too!

    Whose Spielberge? Oh again, Spielberg.

And you said I had no brain cells.

Spielberg v Rob Cohen. I think Spielberg wins hands down. Minority Report was a lot better than "xXx".

After spending 11 years in the Royal Marines, I've heard and seen realism. And yes, explosions have got a thunderous sound.

I'd have to agree with John-D. Way too over the top.

The Bourne Identity was much much better. That's how I prefer my action flicks.

"More summer blockbuster action hits DVD on December 31st with the Vin Diesel James Bond-lite of XXX.

Columbia TriStar Home Entertainment has announced the full specs for this one, which will be released in separate 2.35:1 anamorphic widescreen and full screen versions.

Each features a Dolby Digital 5.1 surround track (no DTS option is provided), plus a host of extras including audio commentary by director Rob Cohen, the new "A Filmmaker's Diary" documentary, the featurettes "Diesel Powered", "The GTO Is Back", "Designing The World Of XXX" and "Building Speed: The Vehicles Of XXX," deleted scenes with optional commentary, multi-angle deconstructions, a visual effects demo, script-to-screen comparisons, the "Adrenaline" music video by Gavin Rossdale, trailers, as well as ROM extras to be announced."

I'm waiting for the DVD of this rather than a cinema trip.

To anyone who's seen it: how does Asia Argento get on in the film? Seeing as she's never really had anything like 'blockbuster' experience, I was surprised to see her co-starring in this. Maybe after paying Diesel's wages they didn't have too much left for the rest of the cast :)

Seen as Jackie Chan does all his own stunts, his films are fairly realistic :p

I have never worked out how Vin Diesel commands such a huge price for his films, all his films are pretty lame and he is a useless actor.

Well, he didn't command much up until XXX.

The reason he does now is because 'Pitch Black' and 'Fast & The Furious' cost relatively little to make and made millions. He's also about the only relatively young, credible 'action' star available.

I'm surprised nobody seems to have drawn the inevitable conclusions about him never turning up to premieres or anywhere in public with a female companion. That and the overtly 'camp' aspects of XXX that are referred to in virtually every review ought to ring some alarm bells...

There's nothing particularly gay about the name 'Mark Vincent' (his given name)... however, Vin Diesel (the one he chose) does sound like some gay porn type name... so I'm told :D

Just found this. Now, really read his response to a fairly straightforward question. If this doesn't give the game away, I don't know what does:

"What does Vin look for in a woman?

VIN: What do I look for in a woman? What does every guy look for in a woman? If I knew that, I'd be married by now. I never thought I'd be 35, just be on TV, and someone would ask me what I look for in a woman. Isn't that fascinating? Honestly, I've always wanted a girl to be cool. I like strength in a woman. I like independence. I like individuality. As long as she's a good person."

As if more evidence were required, his favourite food is the ladies' favourite, pasta!

I suppose. Although my problem with vin Diesel is that he comes across as a bit of a thug and doesn't have the acting ability to change that persona. I have to say I liked him in the Boiler Room which I felt was a very under-rated film... sort of a cross between Wall Street and Deep Cover.

Very good film, I found it similar to another modern classic, Glengarry Glen Ross.

Also strange to know that Spielberg purposely wrote in the Diesel's part in Saving Private Ryan 'cos he wanted him in the film so much. Not wholly sure why!

Now I like my unbelievable action movies, but XXX is really very, very bad.

it was just too A-team for me.
At least in A-team they tried to hide jump ramps in fake shrubbery, with triple XXX vin manages to make his bike jump 50 foot in the air unaided.

and ba baracus can out-act Vin.

Not really competition for James Bond.

in fact, you'd think tristar would have realised the problem with putting the Bond trailor on with xxx, for me it was the best part of the cinema trek ;)

too fast and powerful for XXX to handle, hence he drove some black american 'muscleman' car... ;)

seen the pink s2k coming in fast and frivalous 2?
(anyone know how to turn a 640x480 to a 300x300?)

    I agree wholeheartedly. "A-Team," LOL!

It was loud and fast, but that was about it, still it kept all the kiddies in the cinema quiet. VD [hoho] doesn't command the screen and kisses like a sink plunger [Asia Argento, helloooo].

The Bond trailer, now that looks a classy action film!

    Boink!

Its good mindless fun and if you take it for that you will enjoy it .
For the more intelligent look at the way it sends up the genre and this alone is worth the price of the disc.ie the agent in the beginning being killed and his boss saying they are now too predictable and the great scene at the end where he is on the beach with the videophone.

and the lady looked hot in a rough kind of way.
