I saw this movie in the cinema and got the dvd last week.

Firstly I liked the first xXx it reminded me of a US James Bond, it is also an easy re-watch.

The second xXx however seems far cheaper and a hell of allot cornier. This is coming from the guy that did Die Another Day link which is a surprise.

I am a big hip hop fan but thought Ice Cube was definately the wrong choice here. This movie reminded me of Torque which as everyone know is *****. For me Ice Cube just doesnt give the impression of a hard nut but more of a Teddy Bear a cubby one at that.

xXx 2 isnt a bad movie, it just could of been so much better seeing as they are trying to emulate an American version of James Bond. One of the last lines in the movie suggests that there will be a xXx 3, with a new xXx. I think steven Segal would make a good xXx (Dave S :hiya: )

    Spoilers

Scenes that spoilt the movie or cheapened it.

    - Jumping onto the helicopter from the prison roof at the begining.
    - His ex girl now runs a supercar showroom and work shop when 9 years ago she was dealing in ringers (stolen cars)
    - The 220 mph $500,000 car used at the end on the train tracks
    - Ice Cubes acting
    - Ice Cube on the air carrier and got away with a whole army there to try and stop him.
    - Boat jumping onto a bridge and flattening the cop car.

    :D

I must say that xxx is one of the movies in my collection I've watched more than once,
it is especially stunning on my front pro at 80",
the trailers I've seen for xxx2 were enough to put me off wanting to see it.

Razor is on the money here - if "XXX2" is anything, it's a cheap-looking action flick. That's fine if you're talking about "Ong Bak", which gains a certain something by doing the stunts for real and by looking far grittier than Hollywood studio fare.

"XXX2", however, has effects which look like PS2 cut-scene graphics (Did Kevin the work experience boy handle the work on the final bullet train chase?), action sequences rendered incomprehensible by the amount of editing used and performances which are at best uninspired and at worst - step forward, Nona Gaye - postively narcoleptic.

To me, the best thing to do would have been to make this sequel a story featuring Samuel L. Jackson, whose character is more interesting than Ice Cube's and whose acting wholly outclasses pretty much everyone else on screen.

Given the fantastic impersonation of a dive-bomb that this sequel did at the US box office, I wouldn't hold your breath for a "XXX3", unless it's one of Sony/Revolution's Direct-to-Video efforts...

(Best viewed with Sin City Styling in mind :D deep gravelly voice....)

Gary walks away from thread, finds a dark corner - drops to his kness, cocks the hammer on the .357 and places a gun to his temple, he preys one final time that Razor will stop buying this rubbish and that they NEVER make xXx 3. The hammer engages, the gun powder expoldes and a ball bearing travelling at 400mph rips his brain in two.

Goodbye cruel world, i tried my best he just wouldn't listen...........

On the other side of town Razor was looking up the release date of "Faster Than Fast and More Furious Than Last Time 3: The Rubble with the Mubble"

As much as I like Vin Diesel I wasnt over impressed with the first xxx... it didnt quite do the man justice....and when he said something along the lines of "You got to think playstation" I felt sorry for him for having to say those lines lol. The second xxx was gr8 fun I thought...well over the top action

The train scene was apauling. Very poorly done and thought out. It was almost they thought 'we need to end this movie but we dont know how'.
Also how comes the Presidents train doesnt have bullet proof glass? That was a stupid move. It was also amazing that the cars wheels fitted perfectly on the train tracks.

Samuel was by far the best actor in this movie. He could of done it on his own.

Even tho it was ***** I still enjoyed it to a certain extent. ;)

Have just finished watching this "epic" and writing the review tonight - my advice is if you like the movie, DON'T read my review.........

To give a nice vernacular turn of phrase (can't see this appearing on any adverts soon) :-

It sucked more than Divine Brown on Hollywood Boulevard.

GaryD will most likely be in 100% agreement :)

Could someone give me a 'can't be bothered to see it but you might be able to persuade me to' synopsis?

I must admit to being intrigued that a lardarse on a par with myself could be picked to carry an action flick.

ExtremelyDodgy, it is one of the (few)saving graces of the film that Ice Cube is the lead in this flick - there's even a line in the film after Cube has just escaped from the least well-guarded military stockade in history, where he's talking about needing what every man who's just left lockdown needs. Cut to slightly gross slurping sound effects and Cube chowing down on a huge cholesterol burger and fries. It's almost as though they're aware of the inherant ridiculousness of this franchise's premise and are keen to have fun with it.

When I was watching "XXX2" with my wife last night, she found it quite endearing that Cube was more on the porky side than your average action hero - we had an ongoing debate about whether they were persuading Ice Cube to run around and duff up the bad guys for another take by having some hapless production assistant just off camera with a family size KFC bucket on a fishing rod...

There's a noisy 5.1 soundtrack to really endear you to your neighbours, Sam Jackson is great and yes, it is a right load of old cobblers - but if you like your villainesses blonde and pneumatic, your action to leave you dribbling "That couldn't happen in a million years!" and can chuckle at the sight of Willem Dafoe almost visibly adding up his pay cheque to justify his presence in the flick, "XXX2" is probably worth a punt.

If I wasn't so damnably teetotal, I'd say it was the kind of flick that you'd enjoy with a pint of your favoured amber nectar and the take-away artery-frazzler of your choice.

On the flip side - you could get Species 3, which although complete tat, does feature the vilainess in this movie in a lot less clothing........

    Food for thought.

You're right. It's a tough choice. Boobies and aliens with a grudge or a lardarse action movie with Willem Dafoe taking the ****... damn. I might have to get both.
