XTZ Cinema Series AVForums Review

Nice review Phil:smashin: indeed DOTPOTA is an awesome movie and fully capable of showing off the Cinema series to the max. I think either a second 1x12 or the 3x12 might have even stretched your highly recommended award to a reference one:)

"One of the unique features of the M6 is what XTZ call the Quattro-Tweeter array"

Not sure how unique this feature is .....

Good review, they are certainly very competitively priced compared to the competition.

Nice to see a proper review of these after reading so much about them on the dedicated thread.
I gather they are prettier in the flesh than in pictures.
Build quality sounds like it's exceptional.

I'm sure these are great speakers, but they plainly inherit their DNA from another company - it's more than obvious - so I hope the progenitor's flattered.

Great write-up! These are fine copycat speakers that perform admirably. Not too surprising given where the design and most technological implementations originally come from ;)

One of my best friends has a set of these while I have the... 'originals' We enjoy movie nights at each others house. Never any debate about who's got the better system. None at all...

Phil no doubt you know of the issues around the XTZ cinema series and Ken Kreisel "quattrro" range but whats your opinion?

As a reviewer I have to look at what is in front of me for assessment and deal with that in an unbiased manner, otherwise I am doing a disservice to the forums members. I write reviews for the members, not manufacturers or advertisers. So, with stories of politics and so on, I don't get involved and I don't let that affect my job of reviewing the product. I understand the KK speakers might no longer available? and that is sad if true as I would have loved to have reviewed those as well. I am also interested in reviewing other similar speakers, that are available from other well known names, so watch this space and hopefully that will happen. Now we have covered that, can we keep this thread about the product and review please and any other stuff is discussed in the threads that exist already, please?

The 808 is short on stock that's all. According to Lsound, they weren't selling that well in the States as they supersize everything. The 808 does have a loyal following on this side of the pond, yours included. And I understand new stocks are coming up in the next couiple of months.

Unless someone has heard otherwise,. What I knew was from end Jan.

Yawn predictable responses. So much bitterness. Great review btw it's always good to get a proper review as well as user reviews. Still top of my list, just need an influx of cash from somewhere.........

Obviously I should only speak for myself but I don't sense the "bitterness", per sé, just people stating certain facts of the situation. It's difficult to argue the controversy aspects surrounding the existence of these speakers. Those type of things occur in this business, it's nothing new. I don't mind that these copycat speakers exist myself as I try to keep some distance to it, but it has stirred up debate for legit reasons. Doesn't take away from this being a great write-up on great speakers of substantial value. And as you may know I wrote a lengthy personal impression on the XTZ Cinema Series elsewhere on this site after a demo and my comments were mostly favorable, certainly not bitter.

Hope you get that "influx of cash" very soon so you can enjoy new speakers!

Can we keep questions and comments on this thread more to do with Phil's excellent review and pose more general questions over here on our on-going saga: XTZ Cinema Series | Page 47 | AVForums

Really though for that sort of money it should sound amazing.

Great review by the way, just need to find £5000 for a TV and that home cinema setup.

What did it sound like with the entry level Amp @Phil Hinton

I ask out of curiosity mainly, rather than a need to know. I know that those beafy Onkyo's like the 5007 could drive most speakers well but wondered how much of a realiance these speakers make on that sort of amplification, compared to the more entry level variety of amps?

Fantastic write up and I'm even more excited about getting mine wired up very soon, they've been sitting in boxes for months. When I first heard these speakers I knew they were very special indeed.

I don't want to go off topic but some of the comments re; copycat speakers etc are so childish it beggars belief. Go moan to someone who gives a monkeys because trust me, owners like myself don't and nor will those who look to audition/buy these speakers as a result of this unbiased review.

We'll just be sitting back with huge smiles on our faces enjoying what are without doubt the best cinema speakers at this price point.

Suppose we all have our own definition of 'childish' but just to be clear - as far as I'm concerned it's not a question of being childish. Or about moaning for that matter. It's about stating a fact in regards to this review and the speakers featured in it - they are copycat speakers. Maybe the word 'copycat' makes you twitch, I don't know? Do copies of someone elses product and/or design necessarily have to be a bad thing? Suppose that's up to the individual buyer to decide. My friend who bought the Cinema Series doesn't think so and has no shame about it. I don't look down on him for that as it's his choice. Whether you, or whoever else, "gives a monkeys" about the facts or not is again up to the individual. Some will, some won't. And if you read and understood the rest of what I had to say in earlier posts maybe you would have put things in perspective. I rest my case.

Have fun unboxing your XTZ speakers! They will rock your house, I'm sure! :smashin: Cheers!

The moaning bit wasn't directed at you.

Anyway, I don't want the thread to go off topic and so will leave it there.

Thanks for the good wishes, hopefully I'll have them up and running soon:)

There was a request further back from a moderator to keep posts in this thread on topic.

For some reason that doesn't appear to be happening so more posts will have to be deleted if it continues.

2nd request, keep it on topic and divert the other stuff elsewhere.

Thanks

Nice review Phil, shame about most of the comments from people afterwards. What a joke the speakers forum has become.
