After much research, deliberation, and saving the pennies (well, maybe borrowing them is more true!!)
... I have embarked upon a journey, one that I hope will keep me at home for almost forever... just watching TV!

(and the Roads will also be a safer place ... see, I'm doing my bit for the community!! (so maybe I should get a sponsor!?))

My Home Cinema is finally being constructed...

This is how it all was....

I then decided to have a little change around, swapping the TV for the sofa's position ... getting used to what "it" will be like eventually...

From the above pics you will see one pillar still standing ... this was structural, as the meeting point of the joists in the ceiling, from lounge to garage (yes that's the room behind).

So a beam was custom made, and inserted.

Re-construction of the wall, and as it stands at the moment.

Opposite end of the room, where my surround speakers are going. Cabling run through in the ceiling.

Sky and normal cabling also run through the ceiling from outside and down into the garage...

This looks great and is just what i want to do.

This means you can have access to all your AV equipment etc from behind for connecting and reconnecting and reconnecting...

In fact you copied my thoughts...somehow.:lesson:

Anyone else have an example of this? Small av room behind display(s).

All the equipment to be installed is listed in my signature:
Pioneer Plasma PDP-435XDE
Pioneer DVD DV-868avi
Pioneer Amp VSX-AX5ai
Sky+
Playstation 2 (then PS3 next year...)
Front Speakers: Artcoustic DF Multi (LRC)
Rear Speakers: Sonance RS1 surround sound ceiling speakers
Subwoofer: BK XLS200
QED Cables & Interconnects (P2110 Flat fully wired scart, Silver anniversary cables etc)
Will get a custom made subwoofer cable from Mark Grant

I am also getting Rako Controls lighting installed, with downlighters...
The holes in the ceiling at present were to feed the various cables through the ceiling: Speakers, Sky+ and TV cable.

I worked tirelessly through the weekend, and all through the night on Sunday... skimmers/plasterers x 4 came early morning bank holiday Monday and skimmed the whole house in 12 hours! (the hardest working people I have ever seen!!)
Just the lounge ceiling to do and other minor works, then the holes can be cut for the downlighters...
I'll take pics when I get home from work, just so knackered!!!
It's finally moving along... :D

Can't wait to sit back... drinkin' a Bud, watching the game... True
Cheers for the feedback guys!

The AV Install is around 2 weeks -ish from being completed.
The hold up is the rest of the house!! ...its all being plastered and made over at the same time.

PHASE 9

Lighting Preparation
From 2 normal light circuits to 10 downlighters on 3 circuits.
I wanted 13 downlighters (3 extra in lounge area) but was not possible due to the joist positionings in the ceiling.

Took some pictures last night ... will get them posted up.
I've had a complete nightmare with my skimmers & painters!!
I'm in the process of repairing, sanding, and painting the finishing touches myself.
Once that is done, only then can the AV kit be installed....

Its frustrating!!! But I want it done right... and it'll all be worth the wait :)
