Hi A short time ago I bought a 2 x 5pack of Panasonic DVD-RAM discs(2-3x speed) from Costco. When I tried to load one of the discs in my Tosh XS32 recently it failed to load ending with the message about checking for damage or may need cleaning. Tried it again, same thing. Tried a second disc, same thing. I phoned Toshiba to double check the discs should be compatible (confirmed) and they said it could be bad discs. While I still had guy on the phone I said I'll try one from 2nd 5pack. That loaded fine. So thought he's probably right, one bad 5 pack. However it turned out not all the discs in the second pack worked ok first time. Also trying discs from the first pack again sometimes they'd load. I have eventually managed to initialise all 10 discs and record on them successfully but loading them is always hit and miss. Would people generally say the player is at fault or the discs (I don't have another player to try them on)? Is it worth getting machine checked out, assuming Toshiba will do that and not just say it's the RAM discs at fault? Also, is there a way to cancel the loading operation? If the disc doesn't load in say 20-30 seconds or so it's not going to so would prefer to stop it and try again rather than wait for the inevitable error message. Thanks for any opinions.
