XP Smart TV Connectivity

I am considering a purchase of either the Samsung UE40D5520 or the Sony 40EX524, particularly from the point of view of being able to stream wirelessly from my PC. However, I have read comments that this presents difficulties unless the PC is running Windows 7 (I have Windows XP) but have been unable to confirm this. Has anyone had problems with Smart TV internet connection and XP?

By stream you mean play media on the built in video player on the TV.

For that all you need is a transcoding DLNA server, Serviio will run on Windows XP and do this for you. Be sure to apply the appropriate TV brand profile to the IP address of the TV in Serviio's control panel, this resolves incompatibility issues with the TV's.
