Im on the hunt for a subbie and wandered how these two compare?

    My sound system

    Denon DVD-2910
    Arcam 8R Amp
Yam DSP 800 add on processor
    Regular Sky Digibox
    KEF Q35.2 Fronts
    KEF Q95.2 Centre
Using Wharfedale Modus for rear duties

My room is approx 5.5 x 4.0 metres. The odd thing is that I have a raised fireplace, which is not used, and a marble plinth sticking out of the wall. This acts as a smashing isolation platform for the stuff above. Im wondering how the subbie would sound sitting underneath this marble plinth. Aslo a bit concerned that it might be a tad boomy because at the moment Im walking on laminate flooring in that room. Anything I ought to be aware of?

    Bonzo

I would suggest the BK of the two due to the pricing as much as anything else. If the flooring causes you a problem get yourself a granite or marble plinth cut to the right shape and stand the sub on that.

    Cheers for that Ian.

So are the two fairly comparable sound wise? Quite a bit of difference in prices ie: £272 & £500. The XLS even comes in a variety of finishes.

My main need is the bass in music, so does the XLS score highly there too?

Sorry to ask so many questions. :smashin:

The XLS is great with music and by all accounts is at least on a par with the Rel although I havn't heard one.

The BK is sold direct from the manufacturer whilst the REL is sold via retailers. The difference in price is mainly down to the retailers slice of the pie

Its about time we managed to set a test somewhere of the BK vs the Q150E i would say plus the Q201E to see if the BK is worth the cash. If anyone is up for that i have the BK in south manchester and shound have my room set up for mid Jan
