Hi guys
I just received the new Xiaomi projector, the 4K model MJJGTYDS01FM

It's wonderdul really.
And it has already Chinese and English setting for language.

I would like to understand how can I calibrate it, do you have any suggestions to set the best video settings?

I'm using SKY Q for satellite, and Apple TV 4K for movies.

With SKY Q I noticed some stuttering looking at news channel, like SkyTG or SkyNews, if you look at the news bar in the bottom.
I think it's about the 50p progressive video source of the SKY Q.
Because the projector is made for 60 hz videos, and probably doesn't make a good pulldown.

Is there someone here that already have this projector and want to share with me video settings and how to calibrate it in the best way?

I'm using it with a 100" ALR screen for UST. It's great also for a bright room.

Thanks a lot

Would be great to hear & see some pictures alongside your initial impressions (bright room, dark room movies?). Is this the latest model that Xiaomi has to offer?

Hi guys
Sorry for delay.
Here I am.

Yes. This is the last Xiaomi model just lunched. Black instead white, and 4K instead 1080p.

I made some pictures using SkyQ with 1080p channels.
I will do other today with 4K movies.

I used completely bright room with lights on near the screen, on the right and on the left. I made some photos also of the lights.
Then the same images with all lights off.

No sun because it was evening.

I would like only to write to Xiaomi about 50p micro stuttering and may be find a solution.
Also if it’s not a so critical issue, but I’m a little pity.

I’m very impressed. Also because before I had a LG Oled 65” B6. So with really good images and colors.

The Xiaomi isn’t calibrated. What can I do to calibrate it without spending too much money?
I have a Spyder 5 but I think I can’t use it, right?
Which equipments do. You suggest me to calibrate it without spending too much money?
Thanks a lot

Looking really good to be honest, might need to consider buying the thing! ;)

Any suggestions to calibrate it?
What whould I need?

Sorry, never calibrated a projector in my life so I might be the worst person to talk about it! Have you perhaps checked the older Xiaomi projector thread? I could imagine that some settings and advise on a solid setup might be applicable on the older, non-4k version?

I wonder what the input lag on the 4k version is. The older full-HD version apparently has somewhere around 80ms - 120ms!

I think it's about the 50p progressive video source of the SKY Q.
Because the projector is made for 60 hz videos, and probably doesn't make a good pulldown.

If i recall correctly from the HDTV tests vincent ran, the last Xiaomi ran everything at 60hz - and was unable to display 25p / 50i / 50p or 24p correctly.

Yes, that would be a bit of a disappointment. From the US forums, it seems as if this still has not been solved (users describing the same sort of 'judder' again). By the way, apparently the input lag on this one is below 20ms according to one user, which I believe might not be a representative result. Can't see a projector in this UST price range really getting to a number like that!

If you need a input lag test I can do it. Please only tell me what I have to do.
Thanks

Thanks a lot - could you perhaps just playing some shooter games / online shooter games and specifically check if there is a bit of a 'delay' while aiming or movement?

Unfortunately I don't have a Playstation or Xbox game console.
I read there is a site to open to make a lag test, but I don't remember it.

Today I received also the calibration probe X-Rite i1 Dysplay Pro.
I would like to calibrate it during the weekend with HCFR.
I started to read some guide.
Is there someone here who can help me to calibrate it with this software?
So I can post some pictures before and after the calibration.

Thanks a lot

Ditch the software the came with it and use DisplayCAL.

Thanks for your reply.
I need to calibrate it but I will not use with a HTPC. but with Apple TV and Sat Decoder.
Do you suggest to use DisplayCAL instead of HCFR ?

Hi, this looks amazing. May I ask where you bought it from?

Thanks for your reply.

If you are only changing settings on the projector then HCFR might be the better choice, DisplayCAL is mainly for tone mapping and making ICC profiles and 3D LUTs.

Since these projectors are running Android there should be some way to install an ICC profile directly to them with root, will have to look into that.

It would be great to install an ICC profile directly on the projector, so I could make an automatic calibration, right?

Seams like Google mangled colour management on Android, so an ICC profile being applied system wide is unlikely. But some apps can load ICC profiles, the Firefox android app can use ICC profiles for example.

Thanks tankalf for sharing any pros and cons, I’m very interested with any measurements you might be able to pull, eg constrast, resolution, 3D and lumens from what is printed to actual, thanks again

Thanks for this. Can someone please recommend a 240V to 120V converter?
