XenForo - the future of AVForums

Hmm, looks....good but I'm not overwhelmed. They seem to be talking it up an awful lot in their forums without providing any justification. Stuff like "just because you've seen it on another forum doesn't mean it should be on XenForo" and "XenForo is revolutionary" etc.

All this seems slightly unsubstantiated atm.

Any chance of editing your top post Stuart and including a bullet list of some of the highlights of what it offers over vB and how these would be useful to AVF?

I'm ever interested in new developments to AVF (love the forum list) but I've not come across anything "revolutionary" about XenForo yet...

It's an evolution, I would say, but a pretty spectacular one. Edited the first post to link to the 'Have you seen...' forum.

Today is the first chance I've had to sit down and have a good look at some of the Xenforo offerings and must say I am impressed. Usually my inclination is to stay with the current, and therefore known, option but must say that I am looking forward to this new system being introduced.

Cheers,

Martin.

Any news on how the forum will be handled on mobile devices? Tapatalk was perfect until the support stopped and at present it isn't the easiest to browse the forums on my iPhone. Will you be using an app or have a mobile friendly site as well?

This is pretty key for me too as I find it hard to be at a computer all day but also want to browse the forums all day, so a smartphone freindly format would be good if possible.

When this change happens can I assume that we will keep the same account, with same username and retain all Itrader ratings and saved private messages.

Looks very slick by the way.:smashin:

Same login name, avatar, threads (topics), posts (messages) and private messages (conversations).
iTrader is a plugin for vBulletin which has been requested in xF, but is more likely to be a candidate for a plugin.
We will wait until a plugin is written which will replicate the iTrader functionality (hopefully improve on it) and import existing ratings.

Yes we are proceeding with more import tests now that the import time has been greatly reduced by code advances.
