My old and trusty XE1 is still performing without a flaw but with the recent addition of a 1080p Plasma i changed the resolution setting to 1080p / 24Hz

I drop this down to 720p when using the Panny AE500 PJ

The problem i have is that i have yet to see a normal DVD upscaled to 1080p. On the couple of normal films i've watched it once set the resolution to 1080i and tonight to 720p

I wrongly assumed that it would always upscale to the maximum resolution available set in the display settings. (1080p)

Anyone know where i'm going wrong

    Thanks

Just found the problem is my HDMI splitter must memorise that my PJ is only 720p even if the PJ is in standby. It then sets this as the maximum resolution for the splitter to accept. When i unplugged the PJ HDMI cable it re-set at 1080p - As soon as i plugged in the PJ HDMI (even in standby) it went back to 720p

I feel a nice 1080p PJ on the way :D

BTW Kingsfat - I think you are the nearest PCU owner to me with Suniil a close second - Hows that baby performing :smashin:

I get MAJOR judder if I use "1080p/24" as the Frame Rate (especially on Video DVD titles like music titles).

Is AUTO the better selection or 1080p/24 for the frame rate? Kingfats for instance gets judder on HD-DVD if he uses "AUTO". So... it appears you can't win!:mad:

Try Auto :smashin: some players work different with this for whatever reason.

    Hiya guys!

Just thought I'd feedback to you all about the AUTO frame rate setting on the XE1 (as opposed to the 1080p/24 frame rate setting).

Well... it's all great news. Motion on video and film is silky smooth on SD-DVD and on HD-DVD which both now look awesome. CUE is greatly reduced as is jaggies and stair-stepping. HD-DVD's seem to be playing great in the AUTO frame rate setting which was a very pleasant surprise.:smashin:

I am so chuffed. I can't believe that just that one setting has made the world of difference.

Thanks so much for all your patience and help guys (especially Kingfats!)! It is greatly appreciated! :smashin:

    M.J. :D
