After much deliberation, and watching of discussions here, as well as spending an annoying amount of time visiting a few dealers / shops, I ordered the screen on Saturday, and is due to be installed on Friday.

Dealer install, wish me luck, will post some pics when complete.
All I now need is to find a home for my excellent Loewe Xelos, a man can only have so many TV's :smashin:

Great forum for research purposes, many thanks to all posters :)

Strange isn't it.Every Panny owner on here is adamant that they've got the dogs b*******,yet every xde owner just sits back, says 'WOW',and then is lost to the world for a few days.I know I try to advise people to make their own mind up,but there's just a smirk at the corner of my mouth when I remember those first few hours. Enjoy,Greybloke, speak to you when you come down again.

Not owning any plasma yet, I sat for an hour in a demo room watching an xde and came away thinking cr*p are all plasmas like that with sky+
All the shop owner could say was Oh you should see it on a dvd feed!
as you say let your eyes decide, but dont base the decision on a good dvd feed !!

Sorry guys, but not had time since install earlier today. Although the screen has only been on for about 5 hours, I can truly say it has exceeded my expectations. I did look at many alternatives before comitting to the pioneer, which clearly attracts a premium price :thumbsdow

However I knew I would always really want the pio if I went for another make / model. After all at's only money!!!!!!

I have turned the settings down a bit following advice here, although the manuals make no mention of this?

The install looks really neat in my newly refurbished lounge, had to buy the 5m extra long cables to go through an outside wall, and back in again some 3.5m away, power outlet was already moved to be behind the new screen so it looks like a floating unit and very smart too IMO

Hooked up to my Yam AV amp and mission speakers for 5.1 sound and I'm really pleased. Even Sky + is looking good. Quality DVD's even better than through my previous Loewe CRT which I thought (up to today) was the dogs!

Only problem so far is how to manage the lip sync problem with sky feeds, and keeping the black surround clean :D

Photos will be posted when I get a moment.

If it is one of the newer Yamaha's, the RX-V650 and above provide Audio delay.
