    1. Will you have to have a wireless broadband connection or will you be able to use it like the old xbox by plugging it into the modem?
    2. Will you have to have a hd-tv to make it work or will it work on a standard tv but not look as good as hd?
    3. How much will the live gold subscription be?
    4. Do we know what the launch date is?
    5. How much will it be? UK £

I would be seriously surprised if the price is less then £299.

    1. You don't have to be wireless, there is a standard ethernet port on the back. There will be an optional wireless add-on for sale though.
    2. Will work on any TV, but naturally won't look as good on a non-HD display.
    3. No official announcement yet. Speculation is the price will be unchanged or just slightly more than the current Live subscription, but Live accounts are transferrable over to the 360.
    4. No official announcement yet. Semi-official speculation is Nov US, Jap/EU shortly after. What shortly means is open to debate, though pre-christmas is likely (cross-fingers!).
    5. No official announcement yet. There will be only one version of console available at launch, speculated to be $299. That would probably mean £249 in UK.

And in Edge it says - I quote - "Three launches - US, Europe and Japan - all before Christmas. First will be the US, with Europe and Japan following swiftly after..."

J Allard said (to the usual large round of applause) that for the first time in console history they will be doing a simultaneous release of the X-Box 360 in the 3 regions of Japan, US & Europe in 2005. Nothing is ever set in stone but that is their definate goal and unless they want to be left with egg on their face we will see the X-Box 360 in the UK before the year is out. :smashin:

EDIT: As it's going to be $299 I reckon that we will see it in the UK for £249. I base this on looking at the release price for the PSP in the US ($249) and in the UK (£180). If that's a reflection of the economy then £199-£249 should be the price range (probably somewhere nearer the £249.

microsoft said 'they will not repeat the same mistakes regarding price that they did with xbox' so £200-£250 is a safe bet.

$299 currently equates to around £161.

If $299 does indeed turn out to be correct, I think Microsoft should take the bull by the horns (so to speak) and pitch at under the magical £200 marker, say £199 :)

If it turns out to be £229 or £249 that's pretty much the same but to have a starting price beginning with a £1 would be a huge bonus (not to mention maybe pyschological to some poeple) and give the system every possible chance of flying off the shelves in huge numbers.

You never see something released over here in the equivalent pounds value of the US Dollar price. Standards of living & wages etc. mean that you can't directly relate the 2 prices. Usually products are released over here with the same pounds value as the dollar ammount (i.e. $299 = £299) but since the dollar has been pretty weak against the pound of late this has changed slightly. I know what you're saying about the psychological under £200 thing (and that will no doubt come into play with the first price drop) but I can't see it being much less than £249 personally.

Regardless of what the console price is, whether its gonna be £199, £249 or £299 we are all going to end up spending a great deal more anyway as what do you get for the figures above? The Console is all you get, nothing to play on it  so Mr Retailer, even he offers a good deal say console+any 2 games+extra pad for say an additional £50/60 over the price of the solus, is still gonna make us part with more of our cash.

Think i best tell the missus she's not getting a xmas present this year!

I still reckon I am going to get one from the states. £160 VS £249 is a decent enough price difference. I will still be able to use it on Live and the games will cost less as well.

It really annoys me to be honest. PSP is £95 - £120 in Japan and America, now we have to pay £90 more for the Xbox 360 - thats at least 3 games in their money probably more if you get a bundle deal. This is why I refuse to get stuff over here anymore

Yes but remember that they are paid in $ as well - it's all relative. Say if you earn £30,000 the equivalent US person would get around $40,000 (about £22,000). If items such as the PSP were the same price in the UK as in the US then it would cost the US folk about 1/3 more.

I agree with Pooontangs comment. I remember buying my Dreamcast after waiting in line at launch. I ended up spending about £350! A DC, VMU, Extra pad and a few games.

360 launch day will cost us about £400 I reckon in terms of having to buy some games & extra contollers etc.

Personally i'm going to wait until after Christmas before taking the plunge anyway. As i've got a wedding, then a spate of birthdays & then christmas to fund this year i'm afraid a new console will have to wait until the new year (unless business is particularly good that is :D ). Hopefully there should be some well priced bundles available after the Christmas sales have died down.

We'll see ;) I know launch days are just too tempting speaking personally - I just have no willpower to say no. At least component cables come as standard, that saves £20. Console + extra controller + 2 games = £350ish I reckon.
