There is no chance of a 2005 europe realease. All the Americans will buy so many that our release date will be pushed back.

But aren't they all made in the same factory?

By the way does anybody know how many consoles these factories can churn out a month?

If it was say 100,000 per month, this would mean that the xbox 2 is already in production to create enough for a christmas 05 launch.

Come on chaps Europe wont get Xbox 2 this year. The US will absorb all available manufacturing capacity. I think we can say for sure they havent starting making them yet, news like that would almost certainly of got out.

Has there ever actually been a successful simultanous console launch on this sort of scale ? I think not and I dont think they will start now, the US is the most important market and is always the priority.

It will be cheaper over there anyway and I always take a trip to Florida in November / December

Apparently Halo 3 is a dead cert for Xbox 2 launch

I have to agree, everything points to a November launch.

The trade press is talking about it as fact, and they are not gamers getting excited, they are just people selling product.

I`m not doubting it will be launched in November just not here. If it is great  What do we reckon the launch price will be £249 - £299 ?

I might still go for the US version as with the first box you will probably still be able to use live. With the current exchange rates could be a big saving.

Harris - its the british trade press that are talking about the EUROPIAN LAUNCH IN NOVEMBER! so therefore a british launch!!

as for price i dont believe that they will sell it at that price. Speaking as someone who bought the xbox on week of launch last time, i remember the balls up they made of the price (lets drop the price by £100 inside six weeks of launch  )

i think that £149 - £199 will be a more realisitic price point. also remember that they will want to get a large installed user base by the time PS3 hits - they wont make the same mistakes again.

What do the trade press know anyway ? They always get this stuff wrong. From past experience I cant see it this year for the UK but if it turns up great.
If it does well in America I cant see them having the stock for a European launch.

As well as HDMI/DVI. It's a digital medium it makes sense to have an all digital lead for video and sound. I would expect a £300 price again this time. If the PS1 was £300 10 years ago, and considering inflation etc, I can't imagine a price below £300. Why would they? companies know that a certain % of gamers will happily pay £300 for the latest technology. Once they've creamed off that market they drop the price in order to target the next group and so on. It's simple economics.

Its not going to be sub £200. No way. In the states yes but no chance over here. I would guess £299 maybe £249 if they are going to be agressive.

Harris, are you really king canute! other than your own feelings on the subject can you post anything that suggests that Xbox 2 WONT launch in europe in November?

i've been privvy to the thoughts of serval Gamestation managers and the official xbox rep - and there are all point towards a november EUROPIAN launch. the trade papers are alive with it. i would assume that as you are slagging off the trade press ("what do the trade press know anyway?" ) that you read them every week and can there say how accurate they are?
I'm not talking about the "comics" they sell in smiths for the great unwashed i'm talking about the PROFESSIONAL TRADE PRESS.

At the end of the day we'll know the release date when M$ notify us of it - it's rather pointless guessing to be honest. Price wise I can see it being £249 at the cheapest (which is peanuts for what you will be getting) and more likely £299. X-Box has built a name for itself now & it will launch before or around the same time as PS3 so their will not be the price difference that we saw before. When the X-Box came out the PS2 had already been out a while and had already had a price drop. This won't be the case this time.

Remember that theres going to be three versions of the Xbox.. The first being a cheaper stripped down version (sans HD etc), the second with a HD (similar to the current Xbox contents), and the third a fully fledged Media Center version.

Id say the price ranges for them will be like £200 for the cheapest and £350 for the high end version.

I'll be buying the Media Center version, Ive already got £200 put aside for it so far, money Ive decided not to upgrade my PC graphics card with..
