XBOX with 160GB & preloaded games

Folks - I've seen an online place (that will remain nameless for now) selling what appear to be brand new Xboxes with the 160GB hard drive and with 40 games already loaded.

Does this sound kosher? I haven't come across any other places selling already modded consoles with games on there already - does this sound legal?

I've been out of the gaming console market for years by the way so I don't know a lot about this.

Thanks for your help.

Matt.

Yes it would only be legal if the X-Box also came with the originals as well as having them pre loaded.

The supply of "non-original" games (in any form) is illegal.

I would seriously doubt that any firm supplying such a console will be around for long - as a result i'd also think twice about buying anything from them. If they're prepared to openly flout copyright laws then consider how legitimate they actually are as a business - will you get the products you order? Will there be a returns policy?

In case you hadn't already gathered, i'd avoid them ;)

Please also ensure that the company remains nameless :)

In fact I emailed them and they came back with this:

No discs provided

Also you can put any new discs the you have on the hard as long as there is space [ 250 gb upgrade is available to buy ]

Please note as the box is modified No manufacturers warranty BUT item is as new but opened.

DJs buy the boxes so as they can store MP3 music files on them as well.

They didn't comment on the legality side but the xbox is clearly advertised on their website. Interestingly enough they seem like a pretty big company but their main business is not games consoles as that final answer from them may indicate.

Oh well - one to think about.

You could forget x-Box Live with that sort of modification, I would have thought.

Also sounds very dodgy not to provide disks with the machine.

X-Box live is OK as long as you don't modify the console after you have logged on. Mine has got a 120gb HD, Xecutor 2.6 chip and loads of non M$ certified software on and it's fine on live.

WTF!?!?
i know if i was a DJ then i wouldnt want an xbox near me, especially as it would have to have the tv lead dangling about.
LMAO!

that is without doubt one of the lamest 'selling points' ive ever heard for a product.
hahaha

thanks Matt F, that has really brightened up my day.

In fairness, if I were allowed to say who is selling them you would see why they said what they said.

I guess I'm allowed to say do a Google search on "xbox 160gb" and see what you can find.
