Just hooked up my Xbox to my Panny PD30 via a Monster component cable.

I was expecting great things, but I have to say I am dissapointed.

The clarity and sharpness is awesome, but the colour is crap. Its as if I have turned the colour way down on the TV.

Is my Xbox faulty, is this how it should be ????????????.

I know my TV is not to blame as DVD via component is better that RBG scart and look awesome.

    Help me PLEASE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

Have you got to change the settings on either the tv or xbox to send or receive a components signal? I would expect the pq to be better than RGB scart:confused:

The Xbox has no such option, I assume it just send a component signal when the lead is connected.

The TV is definately set to Component.

Like I said the picture is very very good, but its just the colour thats crap. maybe I will borrow a mates Xbox and give that a go.

I heard that the quality on hi-def packs bought here are not as good as the official microsoft one sold overseas, perhaps this might be the problem?....

The matrix for turning SD component in to RGB is different to that for HD component to RGB. It could be that the XBOX sticks out HD component signal and the decoder in the TV is applying the wrong maths to turn this in to RGB. There is no cure for that....

In the first instance I would suggest borrowing another HD pack or XBOX to see if it's not a fault with your unit

Once again people not using the proper Microsoft High Def Pack  Its £12 People. Get the proper stuff !

Also is your XB chipped ? If its a PAL box it will need to be modded to get HD and thats where you see the real difference in quality.

I got mine from Lik Sang for around £12.99. This included shipping. But I got a couple of other cables at the same time, it was a few months ago.

Just checked its £16 now and I dont think that includes shipping :(

    http://www.lik-sang.com/info.php?category=83&products_id=1742&

The shipping wont be more than £4 for this air mail so it is still sub £20 and will evade customs.

This has been said so many times before the Microsoft High Def pack is the only way to go if you want the best quality out of your XB. Maybe it should be made a sticky ?

Shame about the price bump, but I'll probably get it from there myself (unless someone knows of a cheaper place) as Xbox s-video into my projector just isn't cutting it for me at the moment.

Agree totaly on the Sticky idea though, try mailing a mod to maybe get it added to an existing one...

    Cheers for the pricing info.

    Regards,
    Iain.

Svideo....Mmmmmmm. What projector have you got ? Svideo is the tool of the devil.

RGB scart is OK but HD is definately the way to go. Yes its a shame the price has gone up. I thought it was cheap at the time, maybe they were clearing stock, a few people on here got them at that price though I think.

I paid about £19 for mine from dvdboxoffice and it is worth every penny, would definitely recommend getting one.

IMO RGB is the best Video connection when using an unmodded PAL Xbox, For some reason Component looked about the same as S-Video even when using my official High Def Pak.

I was disappointed until I got my Xbox modded and flicked on the prog scan options, then prog scan component blows you away, now RGB Scart looks more like composite when I have to use it for the handful of games that don't support 480p
