All games so far have been regionalised.

So to answer your question the only way to play them is to chip your machine.

No not all games:

Mech Assualt and Unreal Championship are not region encoded. Xbox Live [and the demo games] are not region encoded.

Your best option to play US games is to buy a US console, modchip means you can play US games but not US games online. Remember if you go online with a modchip active you are banned from Xbox Live.

There is no game regions on the Xbox, the programmers put it on the disk, so some haver it and some don't!

No, there is optional region encoding. On PS-2 and GC [and others] this is forced upon developers. On Xbox its optional, but in the EEPROM there are 3 regions, NTSC, NTSC-J and Europe, have a look at Xconfig for more details.

Neil.

I didn't realise some games weren't region coded

Is there a website with a list of region free games?

No, but from what I know, the ones I listed are it. It seems to be a new tack with Microsoft distributed games now...
