I'm going to buy either the Panny 500 or the Hitachi 32Ld7200...

Currently (and for a while too) main viewing sources are

    1) analog cable
    2) xvids through xbmc
    3) dvd through xbmc

My question is about the two latter.

How are peoples experiences with those on 32" LCD's?

    Meaning
    1) using the xbox component hd pack
    2) enabling hi-def through switching to ntsc and enabling the options
    3) using xbmc to upscale all content to 720p

How are xvids/dvds looking when using them through upscaling with xbmc? What is the improvement over using standard 576p/480p the xbox dvd player itself produces? What is the improvement over using standard resolution and letting the screen upscale?

    Thnx

It all depends on what has the better deinterlacer and scaler. The Xbox or the TV? In my experience, all but the cheapest deinterlacers/scalers in external equipment, DVD player of external scaler, will be better than those built into a display. But as usual, there are exceptions.
