Has anyone successfully played their xbox while processing the image, or is the time delay too much? Thanks
Very small delay using an HTPC and Dscaler into a plasma. Initially it felt odd but I don't notice it now: even Haloing on Legendary.
I Looked into the Iscan ultra. I also came to the conclusion that time delay was an issue. At the end of the day you can get HD out of the xbox anyway and its stunning. So why bother.......
My Lumagen will 1:1 pixel map with a Hidef plasma, and do a better job of deinterlacing than a dvd or xbox - in my situation a std xbox outputting interlaced via a lumagen would probably provide a better picture than a NTSC outputting progressive (480i vs 480p, not vs 720p). Could have meant it was worth me holding back on modifying my xbox, but I don't think I'm going to put up with any time delay. I'll be bad enough if I go on xbox live as it is.
If the Lumagen further improves upon the xbox picture via high def and component it must be simply stunning as, to my eyes anyway, without a scaler the picture really is nothing short of amazing on my pj.
I'll do a comparison when I get an NTSC able xbox. I just wouldn't expect a £100 games machaine/media centre/dvd player to process video as well as a £1000 video processor - I'll post my findings in a few weeks. But I'm reassured that you're all so impressed with the xbox hidef, and that's the way I'll go, as I don't want a time delay.
Triggaaar, would be interesting to get your opinion on this, especially as you can do a like for like comparison. I dont for one second believe that a £100 console would be better than a £1k plus scaler but the image from the xbox really is amazing.
You could always compensate for the delay with your receiver if it had audio delay (Denon etc.). Another happy Xbox direct owner (480p, 720p to PJ & plasma).
No, we're not talking the problem with sound arriving before the picture, but the problem of shooting at someone who's already run behind you and stabbed you in the back.
So you've experienced Limerick too then? (joke!). That's some serious delay! Not experienced anything like that when running through PC/Dscaler but I can see why it would be a problem for a serious gamer
Obviously exaggurating the delay a little. I'm not a serious gamer, but imagine that having a small delay added to your reaction times wouldn't help. Maybe its not enough to make much difference. I'll certainly give it a go when the Lumagen arrives.
