When you rip CDs to the Xbox hard drive you can't (to my knowledge) change the quality to choose how much space it takes up, unlike in Windows Media Player. My question is what is the quality of playback of CDs from the hard drive? Is it the same as CD quality? Thanks in advance.
They're ripped and compressed to MP3 so no, the quality won't be as high as CD. Don't know what bitrate the Xbox uses for compression though (but it sounds all right to me).
In my opinion, the min for anything even close to CD quality has got to be 256kbps. Anything less and you can hear the loss. Official ratings say that CD quality is 192k. Ignore WMA - it's just poo.
