    All,

Does anyone know what the largest and quietest Hard Drive I can put in my chipped Xbox? I have a Xecuter 3 chip.

    Thanks,

i think the maxtor diamond max 250 is pretty nice
thats what ive got in my latest xbox, although i think a new bios will support a 300gig
250 is plenty big enough for me

Thanks. Is that drive quiet? Are you able to use it on Xbox Live once you disable your ModChip?

Rumour has it that the 1st time you log onto live it logs your hard drive and so if later on you change it there's a possibility you will get banned. But if you install a new drive and then register for live apparently this is ok.

I would further advise the Seagate 200gb drive. Its an awesome drive, a good 3db quieter compared to my other Maxtors (thats 8x quieter if you dont know the db system). I really recommend it, silent compared to everything else and doesnt run as hot as my maxtors either. Chris

little bit of info though, if you've been on live before you install the new hard-drive, and then go on you will almost definatly get banned.

    Thanks everyone.

I have ordered a Seagate 200gb drive...should arrive today. Is there any easy way of preparing the HD? i.e. creates all of the correct partitions etc?

I am not going on Live I am using XLink Kai on XBMC.

For other peoples information I used the Hard Drive Tools within the X3 Bios to prepare the HD. It created all of the partitions then I FTP'ed all the file back on...Bingo...all worked. :D

I you have already signed up for live, definately dont mod your Xbox. As the previous poster said when you register they take certain metrics from your box which change once its been chipped.

One of these is the HD, I also believe chipping the machine does something to the Bios that can be detected.
