But last week the Gamecube was the biggest selling console in the UK, even beating the PS2, by a curious twist of fate. Metroid Prime was the number 1 selling game (no surprise there), so it looks like the price cutting really seems to work. I wonder if anyone else will follow suit.
I think the burst in Gamecube sales can mostly be attributed to Argos. I heard that they were selling maybe 100 units a month, but sold 5000 on one Saturday after they dropped the price.
Magic box still has the GC at around 187,000 units sold over the year, with X-Box at 45,000. Gamecube sold 7000 units last week with Xbox at 1600. Although this pales against the PS2 which sold 77,000 units last week!
