Its funny i had an email from Zavvi for pre orders on this and it said about it being a physical UHD players. I had to do a double take because i never saw that mentioned yesterday, saw the 4K streaming bit.

Will wait for the UK price on the 2tb but that could be a day one purchase for me with a new 4K TV. Excuses to upgrade :D

Can anyone recommend a 4K HDR TV then? Something around ther £1000 mark that is good for gaming and general viewing?

Was a massive surprise, will retail for the same or a bit less than the Samsung 4K player, will just wait for the 500gb version at Xmas time i think, i dont need 2Tb of storage in a console i will only play exclusives on.

After borrowing my mates i was on the fence about getting the Samsung player as the blurays do look awesome, so glad i waited.

Whatever anyone recommends will be cheaper at xmas, so you could get a bit more tv for your cash, depends on size you need and whether you want some sort of HDR as well.

If you're looking for an Ultra HD TV with HDR that's also good for gaming then the Samsung KS7000 has to be a contender, it's about the right price and it has a 21ms input lag - Samsung KS7000 (UE55KS7000) UHD 4K TV Review

The Samsung player is £430 isn't it? To be able to buy a player for £250 is a much quicker jump than I was expecting.

I'm in the same boat 1k is my max, £1500 is out of the question, I'm currently looking at the Samsung KU6000 at £850 however I can't find any reviews on it, or take a punt on the Hisense M7000 at £800

Yeah I've always had good experiences with Samsung's so the KU6000 series caught my eye but not sure if they are proper HDR sets? It is quite hard to decipher as it is fairly new tech.

7000 series looks good but wife would need persuading.....

Well sounds nice as long microsoft doesn't screw up the audio processing options with the new Xbox 1 slim like in the standard XB1... Not even capable of uncopressed bitstream audio passthrough to an av receiver. that makes it useless as a 4k blu ray player not being able to play dolby true HD master audio and Atmos. Microsoft didn't even patch the standard edition so far.

Link to the other xbox 1 s threat: Xbox One S with UHD Playback releases Aug 2016 @ $299

      Cheers Stefan

Is the 500gb up for pre-order yet? Amazon have the 2tb option which I suspect movie player users don't need

Well done Microsoft! This is perfect for me as I'm just after a UHD Blu-ray deck and I'm not currently concerned with the bells and whistles like Atmos/ DTS-X support etc. And cheaper than the current options, by some margin. I do have a need for region A Blu-ray playback but for the sake of a few discs, I'll wait for the Oppo UHD deck for that.

Oh and a free games console included. Excellent!

This will be the catalyst for the other UHD Blu-ray players to start to come down in price.

You can be sure they will at least match this but I am fairly confident that will be the one to get as usual. I wouldn't rush to buy the Xbone just yet.

Is it more powerful as a games console as well as playing UHD's?

Rumour is it might be ever so slightly more powerful. But the real power boost comes with scorpio next year.

I'm interested in this especially considering the wireless range of the controller.

I have 2 Xbox ones, one down stairs the other upstairs. Using my HDMI extenders I'd get the range I need by just have one console.

The issue I have is that I have an elite version of the Xbox one with the elite controller that unfortunately as far as I'm aware won't have the increased wireless range as it looks like that has been sorted in the new controllers rather than just the console it's self. Any one have any info regarding this as if live to keep my elite controller but have that extra wireless range

There will be another version early next year that will be a lot more powerful. Watch the new E3 reports its there. This is just a stop gap nothing more buy the UHD capability seems to be enough to get people excited.

If it bitstreams Atmos, DTS X etc then its a no brainer , I would order it tomorrow. But if it screws up the audio, like the current XBOX one, then it's no good as a home cinema tool.

Has it a bluray hdr capable player, or even 4k? All I have read is that it will support streaming and downloaded content in that format. Can somebody point me to where MS state the player is hdr?
