Just for interest, I've paid many times via PP Gift and never paid a fee on my side or the sellers side.
I have a bank account registered with PP so not sure if that has any bearing.

If you pay a fee depends entirely on PayPal's random crystal fraud ball. I have had an account with PayPal for over 10 years and never used to get charged for "gift", then a few years ago, they started charging me (even with fully verified address, bank, debit, and credit card). Suddenly, I can now do instant bank transfers by paypal gift for free, (money direct from bank account, no balance in paypal account)

It makes no sense, but that's paypal for you.

Sorry to pollute thread, just adding a bit of info for those interested who may be curious. There's so many conflicting reports when at the end of the day it just comes down to if you are marked as a high risk account.

In reality it's just Paypal being the most corrupt registered "banking institution" in the world.
