I am finally an XBox owner! My missus bought me one today for my birthday!

The only problem is I have no space!

My question is can the XBox be stood on its side like the PS2 can be?

Is there a problem doing this because of the CD tray or because of air ventilation?

    TIA

Think you'll have a problem with both, almost sure DVD's won't run properly like that!

My mate has his on it's side and it's fine. You just have to be careful when inserting and removing discs.

    Thanks guys :(

Also as a newbie, is it true you can copy the games you are currently playing to the hard drive? If so how?

You'll need to get your Xbox modded mate.

When u say modded what do u mean?
i have had my x-box for a year now and was thinking of getting it chipped....is this the same thing?
I'm not sure about the hard drive etc.....as am not sure what it does...would love someone to explain to me!!
I am a bit worried about getting mine done though....
My nephew got his chipped last week and the "games" he got with it work fine but any original that is put in seems to freeze when loading up....is that a known problem or just with that chip?
Will this affect x-box live at all?

Mod is mainly via a chip, but also software. Chipped machines will be permanentkly banned from Live! if detected. Though some chips can be disabled.

if the games that he buys crash when loading then the chipper has done a v poor job. They have set the XBOX region to USA (thus enabling Hi-Def) but they also changed the game region to USA, this means UK games wont work in it (newly bought ones at least).

I would definitely not run the xbox on its side, mostly coz the sides are an important intake for the fan cooling the Xbox... Its not too much space to ask... :)
