Just got a Modded Xbox, switched it to NTSC, put in the PAL version of Dragons Lair. FU***NG Hell am I impressed.

My 30 "Sharp LCD flicked into 1080i Hi-res mode and its honestly like playing a PC game, PIN Sharp.

I have always been disapointed with the Xbox picture quality via RGB scart, it always looked a bit blurry compared to my PS2. So I had to get a chipped one and try the HI RES stuff.

So far every PAL game I have works in 480 progressive scan, and although this is not a particulary high resolution, the clarity of the picture is amazing. Blows away RGB scart.

I simply cannot understand Microsofts logic when they disabled this mode on the UK machines.

    I am one happy BAS**RD. !!!!!

Just got my new JVC HV-36P38, and got my Xbox linked up to the component high def on that, looks fantastic too! Doesn't support 720dpi unfortunately, and I've got no 1080dpi games, but 480 still looks way better than the old Monster S-Video I had connected before. Will get a copy of MX Unleashed to try out 1080. :smashin:

Yep, all HD modes and progressive scan are disabled, you need to modify the Pal Xbox to output an NTSC signal to enable them.

M$ disabled all hidef resolutions on the UK xbox, you need to get it chipped load enigma and get a hidef pack to enable the hidef resolutions. As above post it is well worth it though

Nintendo also removed the progressive option for Gamecube, (though it was never 720p or 1080i compatible). I think the the Japanese also had a dvi cable for it! as well as component lead.

Where did you get your modded Xbox from ? I'm interested in one but can't be bothered with the hassle of doing it myself !
