    Hi

Ive had my xbox for at least 3 years now and had it chipped ( chip was the messiah i think) when i first got it.

I fancy trying xbox live and have read threads that say they will detect my chip and ban me.

can i turn it off by software ? it was an early mod and dos'nt have on/off by hardware.

I have not change my hd btw.

    Thanks

There is no software that will turn off the chip, might be time to upgrade your chip.Or what ive done is get 2 xboxes. As you have to buy the originals anyway.
