    Hi,

I was thinking of getting MAME for my chipped Xbox (without illegal ROMs of course!) but was wondering if it can only be run from the hard drive or if there's a version that can be run directly from DVD.

I'm not too up to speed with the hardware side of Xbox and don't want to damage it by mucking about installing things onto the hard drive.

Thanks in advance for any replies.

    RDB :)

Hi Rock Da Bass, basically MAME will run fine from DVD Rom and HD no probs. Basically just burn MAME to a DVD Disc and boot off that my friend ...
Anything else you want to know just ask

    Regards

MameOX is the best version if you are getting it.

Amiga, and then of course the trusty old Vic20.
PS The Xbox version of mame is not as compatible as the PC version.
Have great fun playing those oldies.

Also the Xbox version (I use Mame-X) runs out of memory on some of the newer larger Roms.

Floatin around in the 'usual places' is a disk called "Big Ass Emulator Number 3" some guy has put all the functioning mame roms on one dvd. (It uses Mameox)
Basically it all plays off the disk.....saves any faffing around configuring the software yourself! (Hope i've not broke any rules supplying this info!...sorry if i have)

It runs from HD or DVD. I am running Mame X ver 5 which is pretty old. Still plays thousands of games though.

Apparently the latest realeses will play the really cool Neo Geo rom set ,(Metal Slug etc)
