I was round my mates on his xbox, after a few minutes of play it started making this noise, which was pretty loud.
To my ears it sounded like a cd player spinning up a disc and not reconising it, but the game seemed to play fine with no problems.
It would switch between two "noises" which were very similier, during the first hour it came and went but after about an hour it was continuos, and we decieded to turn it off.

Anyone had this problem or something similier?

    (ps xbox not chipped)

    Cheers

    Steve

Sounds like it was having trouble reading the disk. Did you check the state of the disc. Maybe it was marked or scratched and hence the drive had to work harder to read through those. Just a thought.

Did'nt check the disc at the time, but it was one of my games which he was borrowing, which was in mint con when i lent it to him.
He normally looks after games pretty well so i doubt that it was scratched, but i'll look into it.

    Cheers

Is the xbox on a hard surface? Sometimes the disk spins madly and causes the xbox to make a sort of rattling sound. I had this problem and just stuck bluetack under the four corners of the machine and it sorted the problem.
