I have only recently joined Live and have been asking around wher I work to see if anyone else was on so that we could have a few games....I have only found two other people out of 1500 who have owned up to being on Live

I have had a lot of people tell me that it is very sad that someone of my age (I am 34 by the way and the two others are also in their early thirties) is playing on Live though :(

I just wondered if there were any more 'older' Live gamers out there or am I indeed a very sad individual :lease:

29 right here. Ignore the ignorant, people that portray us as sad are very out of touch themselves. I have quite a few mates my age who play also, and we have a very active social life too. I remember reading a survey somewhere that the average age of a console owner is now in their mid-to-late 20s - you're far from alone mate.

I'm 25 and most of the people I play online with are between 25 and 35. Why you your workmates think its 'sad' anyways? what is it that they do thats so 'hip'?

BTW I have a lot of mates online all, or most of them are in their mid to late thirties...you are not alone

Thank goodnes for that :D I know that figures have shown that console owners ages are much higher than they used to be but I had a vision of loads of younger people replying saying I was alone

The people at work (especially the women) all think it is very childish. I also have a pretty good social life as well as a great family life with my Wife and two kids (plus the kids join me on Live occasionally ;) )

31 here and i've been gaming since I was 8. Gaming is as much related to age as is watching TV, going to the cinema or reading a book IMO. Anyone of any age can enjoy gaming and the only reason that some people say that it's geeky is because it's still relatively new as a media format. This feeling has reduced dramatically since when I was a lad and gaming is generally thought of as cool these days. It will only continue to become more popular as time goes on and I for one believe that the next console generation will break down the last remaining barriers into the mainstream.

The manufacturers have set their stalls out in that they are out to capture the female and other currently non gaming markets and I believe that they will be pretty succesful in this.

I also tend to find that people who come out with sad comments like "gaming is for geeks" tend to have rather dull and uneventful lives. All they can do to try and make themselves feel a little better about themselves is take the mick out of others.

    EDIT:
I tend to find that 40-50 year old women still perceive video games as a childs toy rather than a serious interative media format. That viewpoint only exists through ignorance though.

Will look out for you

I have been playing PGR2 a lot since I got on Live. Hadn't played it for months but have to admit to loving the Cat and Mouse & Last Man Standing games that are played a lot :D

I have tried a bit of Halo2 but am pretty dire at it on Live :(

Gonna try to get some Forza time over the next week as well as some PES4.

You know it makes me wish they had an age filter in the Live dashboard. I know the 360 dash will have a region selector (so we can single out European games), so it can't be that hard to add a filter for age also (ie. no under 18s or similar). Would surely solve alot of problems and I wouldn't have to worry about swearing or anything then.

On Black Arrow we used to go into a room decide who were the 'kids' and just mute them all. Made life a lot simpler :smashin:

I'm conscious of the fact I swear too much sometimes, that's all - especially when I've had a shandy or two... Doesn't bother me, but I know it can bother some. Could allow more kids to play Live too, if they know the language is clean(er).

36 and at my ripe old age I can just barely see the TV :p

Gave up on Live until I got involved in a couple of Xbox gaming websites and met a great bunch of gamers. Now have a big FL with people always about for a game.

I'm also involved with a clan, more for social reasons rather than organised competition. I get on Live a few times a week when the GF is out, so feel free to send me a FR.

    28. TBH, I had always asumed (when I was younger) that I would have grown out of gaming by my mid/late 20's. In the same way as I had grown out of watching cartoons in my teens. Yet here I am still playing games.
