My sons Xbox has died. (RROD) If he gets another one can he just carry on using his live subscription on the new box or is his account specific to the console in which case whats the best way round this. Cancel it and open a new account?

Xbox live account transfer is easy :)

If you have the hard drive, just change this to the new console.

If you find this desn't work then there is a "recover gamertag" option

You just type in your email and password and a few mins later, your account is active on that xbox.

(but if you don't change hard drive then your save games will be lost)

My friend always "recovers" his gamertag round on my xbox so he can sign in when playing multiplayer on my xbox.

You should also receive a voucher for an extra 1 months Xbox Live when you get the 360 back - a little "sorry it broke" fillip from Microsoft.
