:lease: Just before my Xbox goes out the window, I am trying to connect it to my laptop via an ethernet crossover cable into my laptop's ethernet port, there is ocasionally a connection of 100.0Mbps but mainly the limited or no connectivity warning can be seen. I cannot find where in the properties the ICS sharing bit is! The '1394 net adapter' has it but not 'Via compatible fast ethernet adapter' (which one is which?) I have inputted the two DNS addresses given to me by wanadoo and left the IP address, subnet mask and gateway blank and set for automatic\configuration. I have tried to follow the 'simple' set up wizard and also using the connect checklist at xbox.com and still no luck. when I press connect in the dashboard, it runs through the setup firstly confirming the cables were connnected then the setup ends and I get the metwork error message, this is where I now go aroung in circles. The connect status states the following:

    1. Cables connected
    2. IP not confirmed.
    3. DNS not resolved
    4. Xbox Live not found

Please help because I want to be thrashed by some gobby 12 year old septic at HALO 2!!

Best as I can recall, it doesn't work too well with crossover cables. There's no way you can just plug it in directly?

I followed the advice given by a gamer on Xbox.com and a rather pleasant fellow by the name gave me the address to his website which is: http://www.xbox.live.btinternet.co.uk/. I was connected straight away!!
Thanks for all other posts and advice.

Glad you managed it...I tried for weeks to use Live via ICS on my PC without success and ended up just buying a combined modem/router
