I have just started to compile a sizeable "jukebox " of my favourite music on the xbox. The quality I must admit is pretty good.So far I put down 80 tracks and the xbox memory still states that I have 50000+ blocks still available.
So does anyone know exactly how much music I can store on the machine?
I have done a search but could not find an adequate answer.

    I think it's 8 gig.

I think the amount of memory it tells you is approximate. Basically it goes down 'in chunks', if you like.

The 50000+ will only start to go down when you begin to run out of room. So basically you can put on what ever you like until you start to see that figure change, then you need to be a bit more choosey, even though you still have a fair bit left. I've about 1000 mins of music on mine at the moment and have not breached the 50000+ mark yet.

    ----

Shame you cant switch the fan off the Xbox to enjoy listening to it

IMO the CD/Music replay via the Xbox is a non starter, yes it allows you to rip music, and for some the replay will be acceptable. But, if anyone is serious about ripping music dont bother replaying it via the Xbox.

    Fan noise destroys the experience.

Oh an extra set of audio outs and an optical out would be nice too. But then that might be too much to ask as it costs £150.

Xbox is excellent for games. Lets leave the gimmicks alone unless its done proparly.

Course some of us have 120gb drives in our Xboxes!
    Speeds up loading times enormously!

Sure, the XBox is loud, but the beauty of it is that the controller cords are plenty long, so you don't have to sit right in front of it. Also if your sound system is incabable of drowning out a fan, then maybe it's time to get a new system. (or maybe a set of headphones)

I've got optical out on my advanced scart, and it cost me about £20. I never use anything else.

Also, I think a section of the Hard Drive is off-limits to the user, and it just used for system settings, drivers, etc. 2 GB, I believe.
