xbox hack'n'slash

My all-time fave game is Golden Axe. Since 1992 I've been like a junkie chasing that first (and best) hit.

I've played everything vaguely similar to the great G.A. from Legend on Snes to Legend on Ps1 to Sword of the Berserk on Dreamcast (RIP). Gamecube now has (the v. underrated) Conan, Knights of the Temple etc. I've finished both several times.

But what can I get for my newly-aquired xbox?

I have Enclave but the controls are the worst I've EVER encountered, and to make them non-customisable is simply unforgivable.
I also have Fable, but it is criminally short and all too easily beaten. Gladiator is a joke- great first level, rubbish rest of the way through. Azurik, I bought by mistake and doesn't really fit with what I'm after.

What I'm after is a 3rd person medieval swords and axes hacker. Can anybody please point me in the right direction?

Thanks

Paul

I have Golden Axe on just about every system it was released on.
1 2 + 3 on Megadrive, 1 on Master System, C64, Spectrum, MSX, Atari ST, Amiga, Mega CD and Gameboy Advance.
Up until recently I was running the original game on a JAMMA board in a 3/4 cabinet in my games room.
What I was asking in my original post was: since I was new to the xbox gaming scene, and am unfamiliar with the current list of available games for the machine, could anybody recommend a decent 3rd person hacker with a medieval theme.
Cheers for your replies, guys.

I thought that the LOTR : Return of the King game drew very heavily on a Golden Axe style of gameplay.

Miles apart in presentation of course, plus it is a bit more complex.

Might be worth trying, although I must admit I got bored of it fairly quickly.

And there was me afraid to say that in fear of incurring the wrath of Dirt for being a phillistine. Ah well, you live and you learn.

Maximo is the G'n'Ghosts remake, but unfortunately is only on PS2. I've so far managed to avoid buying a Sony machine. Being a hardcore Sega fan, I've still not got over the Saturn/PS1 thing... (joke)

Mame emulator works sweet on Xbox. Also great for Neo Geo Console / Arcade emulators.

Theres some great fun to be had with emulators and the xbox for sure

Lord of the Rings: Return of the King is exactly what I was after. I just unpacked it and got slashing straight away...

The emulator thing works for me too - I have Pocket Genesis for my Ipaq pda which I play for 2 hours every day on the peasant-carrier to work.

Can't seem to get Gods or Chaos Engine to work tho, but Golden Axe 1, 2 +3 are just fine.

Thanks again everybody for your replies.
