    Hi,

I have been playing vice city on the xbox without a problem. I went out this evening came home and have tried to load the game but it doesnt work.

It gets to the title screen the bar across the bottom moves from empty to full then loading please wait comes on the screen. Then nothing.

I have turned it on and off and on again loads of times.

Anyone got any ideas what has gone wrong?

    Thanks

I think you may have scrathed the disk, try washing it is some soapy water with a soft cloth, then dry it with another soft cloth...

No it doesnt sound like a train track and no I havent scratched the disk (From turning the game off and on overnight this happened without taking the disk out of the drive).

It appears as a common problem on their website but the answers they give to correct it are really stupid and obvious.

Their technical support keep stating what their website say as if I am stupid.

Grand Theft Auto 3 works fine.

In that case it would appear that the game save is corrupt... Thats the last thing I can think of and the only way I can think of fixing it would be to delete your save...

    Great.

Think I will give up on this stupid game if it means I will have to delete the game save and start again.

I don think I have much left to do!

GTA and Vice City won't always boot if the xbox is set to an invalid date/time (ie. if you switched the box off at the mains for over a few hours or had a powercut)

Reset the time/date and it should work fine.

I reset the date and time as the instructions on rockstars website told me to do. It made no difference.

I have deleted my save game which has let me start the game but when im driving a grey box will come up on the screen and say loading everything will pause and about 5 minutes later it will start again.

Also alot of the time when I get out of a vehicle it will freeze up and needs the xbox to be turned off and on again.

Every other game I have works fine.

Do I just have a duff disc?

Give it a wash in some soapy water and then dry it carefully. Its worth a go, no matter how likely or unlikely you feel it will give a solution...

I washed it when you said to the first time, it made absolutely no difference at all.

Im just going to use the disk as a frisbee next time i go to the beach, which looking out of the window will probably be later this afternoon!

Looks like summer is here and I shouldnt be indoors playing computer games anyway!
